Governance Issues Related to the Introduction of Competition Policy in CARICOM: Some Considerations
Main Article Content
Abstract
CARICOM countries have developed and will soon be implementing a Caricom Competition Policy for the region. This paper provides some insights into the regime that is being introduced and governance issues arising out of the arrangement. Because the substance of competition law is so little known, the paper provides some insight into the agreement (Protocol VIII, which is now incorporated into the revised Treaty of Chaguaramas). It also provides some insights into the concerns that arise out of the introduction of this regime and issues for smaller economies. The paper then deals specifically with governance issues.
