This special millennium issue of Caribbean Dialogue contains a selection of papers which were presented at the Conference on Governance in the Contemporary Caribbean: The Way Forward which was sponsored by the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. The Conference was held March 14th - 16th, 2001. Three volumes are being published in the special series. The first is devoted to the Social Policy papers that were presented at the Conference. That volume, entitled Youth and Crime in the Caribbean, is edited by Dr. Godfrey St. Bernard and Mr. Roy Mc Cree. The second volume is devoted to the papers which had a specifically political focus. That volume, entitled Good Governance in the Caribbean: The Way Forward, is edited by Professor Selwyn Ryan. The third volume incorporates the papers which dealt with trade, economic, and management policies as they relate to the changing economic realities in the Caribbean. That volume, entitled Economic Governance in the Contemporary Caribbean, is edited by Dr. Taimoon Stewart.
