The Predictive Validity of CXC General Proficiency Qualification for GCE Advanced Level Success in Biology
Glenda Prime
This study investigated the effectiveness of the Caribbean Examinations Council certification as a predicator of Advanced Level performance. The sample consisted of 287 students who wrote the Advanced Level Biology examination between 1986 amd 1989 inclusive, and was drawn from all the secondary school types in Trinidad and Tobago. Kendall's rank order correlation coefficients were computed between these variables for the total sample and for sub-groups divided by school type and sex. All correlations were relatively low.
